When to start pitalling

When you do put out your first pitfalls? When I was down in Hampshire I put my first pitfalls out at the beginning of March. I was surprised at just how many Carabus were out and about that early. Mainly C. arvensis but also some C. problematicus. However I'm quite a lot further north this year so I don't think there'll be much point putting them out until April?
