I was curious how you track these beauties down? I live in Canada and generally how I find carabids are by either actively searching during the day (checking under boards and rocks),using a Mercury Vapor set-up and pitfall traps in suitable habitats. I was wondering if the same methods apply in Europe. Reason I ask is sometime in the future I plan on taking a trip to Europe to visit family and collect some insects. I'm going to convince my girlfriend that the best time of the year to go just so happens to be the same time that the Carabids are most active...
