Taxonomy on Carabusonline

At Carabusonline.co.uk we are aware of the different classification systems that are currently in use. The two most up-to-date are:

  • Updated checklist of the genus Carabus (Boleslav Brezina, 2003)
  • Liste Blumethal 2007 (Thierry Deuve, 2007)

We have decided to use the Liste Blumethal taxonomy both because it is more up to date and because it has tried to include information from recent molecular studies. However it is still far too early to name a definitive taxonomy.
